Mansfield Advisory Committee on Persons with Disabilities

Regular Meeting   - Tuesday Sept. 27, 2005

2:30 PM - Conference Room C - Audrey P. Beck Building

I. Attendance: S. Thompson (staff),  T. Miller, Wade Gibbs

II. There being no quorum of members, an informational meeting was held, and all regular business was tabled until the Oct. 25 meeting.

III.   Suggestions for future planning, to be reflected on the

       MACPD Annual report to the Town, included: follow-

       up on accessibility and usage of the Community 

       Center by persons with disabilities; continued support

       of efforts aimed at inclusion of residents with     

       disabilities in all aspects of community life including

       employment, housing, recreation and municipal gov-

       ernment; and continued collaboration with the Mansfield Downtown Partnership to ensure that the design of the new Storrs downtown encourages access and use by all residents.

IV.  Suggestions for future program presentation included information regarding community disaster planning with regard to persons with special needs.  John Jackman will be contacted and invited to present Mansfield’s plan to the Committee.

      The informational session adjourned at 3:15 PM.
