Signposts

When Mansfield had no TV, no phones, and no newspapers, residents were informed of Town legal notices and events by reading notices tacked on town signposts. Over the years these signposts have deteriorated and fallen down. One of the original signposts is in the Mansfield Historical Society in the Old Town Hall.

Recently the Department of Public Works has recreated and placed signposts in the following areas, mentioned in the Town Charter:

• Spring Hill(Old Town Hall)
• Gurleyville (on island at the intersection)
• Wormwood Hill (on island at the intersection)
• Juniper Lane(opposite the bridge)
• Jude Lane (at circle)
• Mansfield City (Southeast inside corner of Mansfield City and Browns Road, near Merritt Thompson's Store)
