Elderly and Disabled Homeowners Tax Relief Program

From Feb. 1, 2007 to May 15, 2007, Mansfield homeowners, age 65 and older, and totally disabled homeowners, regardless of age, may be eligible to apply for the State Elderly/Disabled Homeowners Tax Credit Program. Applicants must have resided in their homes in 2006 and 2006 income must not have exceeded $28,800 for single and $35,300 for married persons.

Applicants must provide documentation of 2006 income which includes:

• Social Security income
• Railroad Retirement
• SSI
• State Public Assistance
• Veteran's Pensions
• Veteran's Disability Income
• Other pensions
• Lottery winnings
• IRA interest
• Dividends
• Wages
• Alimony
• Unemployment Compensation
• Worker's Compensation
• Income from sale or rental of property

If filed, a copy of the 2006 Federal Income Tax form must be provided.

Current recipients who are required to reapply this year should have received an application packet in the mail. Mobile home owners who receive tax rebates under the Elderly/Disabled Renters Tax Relief Program are not eligible under the Homeowner's Program.
