SeniorNet Computer Learning Center
The Mansfield Senior Center is a member of SeniorNet. SeniorNet is the world's largest trainer of adults 50+ on computer technology and the Internet. Our mission is to enhance the lives of older adults through the use of computer technology and enable them to share their knowledge and wisdom with the world.
In 1986, SeniorNet began as a research project to determine whether computers and telecommunications could enhance the lives of older adults. We quickly realized that the seniors must first be taught computer use in order to get on-line. As a result, we developed computer classes with curriculum designed specifically for older adults - while simultaneously developing an on-line community offering valuable information on topics ranging from computer tools to health, finance, books, and more.
Today we have more than 230 hands-on learning centers and the largest web site for older adults at www.seniornet.org. What's even more unique is that we have more than 5,000 older adult volunteers who teach computer classes and play a critical role on our web site by guiding discussions, providing feedback, and welcoming new seniors to the site.
SeniorNet Learning Centers are places where computer classes specifically designed for older adults are offered. SeniorNet also operates an electronic network that allows members throughout the United States to communicate with one another and gain access to information of interest to them. The organization also offers a variety of services for individual computer-using seniors.
