Bring it to the transfer station. The brush will be chipped, and the leaves and clippings will be composted. Compost and wood chips are free for residents.

Southeast Elementary School has a collection box in the school.
Envelopes, Anyone? makes unique envelopes from scrap materials, such as leftover wallpaper and old calendars. They partner with the West Haven Community House Program, employing 23 physically and mentally challenged individuals. For more information, visit their website or call (203) 773-9019.
- Books
A collection container is located at the Transfer Station. Pack tightly in cardboard boxes, no heavier than 30 pounds, with lids or flaps that close securely. Books are collected for Hands Across the Water, a non-profit organization, who ships them to schools and libraries overseas who desperately need and want them.
