April 2009
Dear Mansfield Property Owner,
As you may be aware, the Town of Mansfield is in the process of completing a revaluation of all real property, effective October 1, 2009 (which will impact your taxes as of July 1, 2010). This is the second revaluation in the five-year cycle that is required by the State of Connecticut. The purpose of revaluation is to determine the current market value of all properties in town.
We are now in the data collection phase of the revaluation. Systematic interior and exterior inspections by the Assessor’s Office will continue up to the revaluation date and beyond. To ensure public confidence in the revaluation process, property owners must play an active and important role in monitoring the quality of the data that is to be used as the basis of the revaluation. If you misplaced the original data mailer you were sent, please feel free to use the generic mailer. Print, filled it out, sign, provide a day-time telephone number where you can be reached and RETURN THE COMPLETED FORM TO: Assessor’s Office, Town of Mansfield, 4 So. Eagleville Rd., Storrs, CT 06268.
Your cooperation in this process is essential to the completion of an accurate and successful revaluation. Although we may not have yet conducted formal inspections in your neighborhood (we send out courtesy letters in advance of our arrival), please note that you may request an inspection of your property at any time. You may do this by writing a note underneath the signature line on the reverse side of this letter or by calling the office at 429-3327 and leaving a voice mail. Either way, we will get back to you as soon as possible to set up an appointment.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation.
Sincerely,
Irene E. LaPointe, CCMA II
Assessor
