Celebrate Mansfield Parade

The Celebrate Mansfield Parade will kick off the Fifth Annual Festival on the Green at noon on Sunday, September 14. Formerly the “Bikes, Tykes, & Trikes Parade,” this year’s parade will be bigger and better than ever! In addition to children riding their decorated bicycles and tricycles, this year’s parade will feature the UConn Marching Band, E. O. Smith High School’s football team and cheerleaders, UConn cheerleaders, the Mountain Dairy milk truck, antique cars, an electric car, UConn Morgan Drill Team, and more! The Grand Marshalls for the parade are Mansfield Mayor Betsy Paterson and UConn President Mike Hogan.

The Partnership encourages everyone to find a good viewing spot early because Storrs Road will be closed at 11:45 am to accommodate the parade. Storrs Road/Route 195 will be closed from the intersection with S. Eagleville/Route 275 to Dog Lane from 11:45 am until 12:30 pm. During this time, Dog Lane will be closed from the intersection with Storrs Road to the Jao Praya Thai Cuisine restaurant. Dog Lane can be accessed off of Route 195 through to the UConn Bishop Center and behind the Shippee and Buckley dormitories. The public is requested to seek alternate routes during this time.

Children and their families who are interested in participating in the parade on their bicycle, tricycle, or stroller are asked to meet at the Storrs-Mansfield Post Office at 11:00 am on Sunday. The parade will step off at noon from the Post Office, proceed onto Storrs Road and continue until Dog Lane. At Dog Lane, the children and other participants on foot will proceed into the Festival grounds and finish at the stage. Kidsville Kuckoo Revue will perform following the completion of the parade and a performance by the UConn Marching Band.
