TOWN OF MANSFIELD
ADOPTION OF “AN ORDINANCE CONTINUING AND ESTABLISHING VARIOUS ADMINISTRATIVE
DEPARTMENTS RESPONSIBLE FOR PUBLIC SERVICES”
Following a Public Hearing held on March 10, 2008, the Mansfield Town Council adopted “An Ordinance Continuing and Establishing Various Administrative Departments Responsible for Public Services.” This ordinance shall become effective 21 days after a summary of the ordinance and a notice of adoption is published in a newspaper having a circulation in the Town of Mansfield.
Section C504 of the revised Mansfield Charter specifies that the Town Council shall establish by ordinance various administrative departments, agencies and offices responsible for the provision of public services. The adoption of this ordinance codifies the continuation and establishment of the departments. The ordinance continues all existing departments and provides that the Department of Building Maintenance be renamed the “Department of Facilities Management” and the Department of Social Services be renamed the “Department of Human Services.” The ordinance provides that the Town Council may contract with the state, another Connecticut municipality or any other legal entity for the provision of services. The ordinance lists each department and presents a broad description of departmental responsibilities and duties.
