NOTICE: MARCH 28, APRIL 5 AND APRIL 26, 2007 PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARINGS ON APPLICATIONS TO CREATE ZONING REGULATIONS AND A SPECIAL DESIGN DISTRICT FOR THE STORRS CENTER DOWNTOWN PROJECT
The Planning and Zoning Commission has scheduled Public Hearings for March 28th, April 5th and April 26th to receive comments on two applications submitted by the Mansfield Downtown Partnership Inc. and Storrs Center Alliance, LLC. The Public Hearings will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be held in the Council Chambers, Audrey P. Beck Building, 4 South Eagleville Road. The first application proposes Zoning Regulation amendments that would establish special provisions for a new Storrs Center Special Design District zone, including permitted use provisions, application requirements, approval criteria and approval processes. The second application would rezone 47.7 acres of land east of Storrs Rd and south of Dog Lane to the new zone classification. The proposed Zoning text amendments are 25 pages long and the Zoning Map amendment includes a preliminary, but very detailed, set of master plan maps for the Storrs Center project, special design guidelines and comprehensive parking, traffic and storm water drainage studies. Application materials are available for review at Mansfield’s internet web site, www.Mansfieldct.org and at the Mansfield library on Warrenville Rd. and the Town Clerk’s and Planning Offices in the Audrey P. Beck Municipal Building.
At the 3/28/07 Public Hearing, the applicant will present the proposed Zoning Regulation and Zoning map amendment applications and address Commission questions. NO PUBLIC TESTIMONY WILL BE TAKEN AT THE MARCH 28TH HEARING. The Commission will begin to receive verbal comments from the public at the April 5th continued Hearing. The Commission will receive written comments on the applications until the public hearing process has been closed.
Any questions regarding the pending applications or the Planning and Zoning approval process may be directed to the Mansfield Planning Office (429-3330). Any written comments on the subject applications should be sent or delivered to the Planning Office, 4 South Eagleville Road, Storrs-Mansfield, CT 06268.
