Call to Order
Ethel Mantzaris, Chair, called the meeting to order at 12:00
I. Approval of Minutes – MOTION by Frank Perrotti seconded by Eileen Griffin. VOTE: Unanimous in favor of approving minutes as submitted.
Kevin Grunwald, Director
A. Kevin handed out copies of the Social Services Quarterly Report and a discussion among the Board members ensued.
Pat Michalak, Youth Service Coordinator
A. Pat informed the Board that Janit Romayko will facilitate the Grandparents Group as a volunteer until the part-time position is approved in the upcoming budget. At which time she will be compensated out of the budget. Currently non-resident grandparents have participated in this program and will continue to do so until the group size gets to large.
YSB staff participated in training and received certification in Internet safety
UConn Big Friends Program celebrated with an end of the year award appreciation dinner
YSB staff attended training on Cognitive Function and Evaluation in Children
“Respect Me Program” which is supported by the State Department of Education Grant has begun planning and coordination with the middle school.
YSB staff met with United Services’ Emergency Service Department to work towards developing a collaborative relationship with for a possible future referral source.
Children of the Cope Program have been actively involved in determining an end of the year project including designing a logo.
YSB staff nominated Christine Butler an EOS sophomore for the Mansfield Leadership award sponsored by NECASA based her on going involved with our intergenerational program. Christine and family were honored at a dinner at the Harvest restaurant.
Grandparents Raising Grandchildren’ Group met and will continue to meet monthly.
H.I.F.I. Children’s Grief Group met to evaluate our first session. It was determined to be a huge success and we will start our next session on September 30th, 2007.

Sandra Baxter, School Readiness Coordinator will be invited to attend the next YSB Advisory Board meeting to make a brief presentation on the School Readiness Program.
Ethel and Pat will provide lunch for everyone at the next meeting.
