Minutes of the Meeting – June 23, 2009

 

Present:  Hultgren, Meitzler, Hart

               Guests:  None

 

Advance Green Request – 32 at 275 – Hultgren reported that the DOT had reviewed the request and decided to install an advance left turn arrow for Route 32 traffic turning East on Route 275.  The signal modification will take place sometime in the future.

 

Pedestrian Awareness Campaign – “Walk Left” signs have been ordered for Hanks Hill Road.   Hultgren will contact UConn (Averna, Kraus) to coordinate a program with UConn.

 

Eastwood Road – Crosswalk and Sign Request – Was discussed but no decisions made.  To be continued to July meeting.

 

Parking Fines -  Discussed but action deferred to July meeting.

 

Speed Limit Request – Cedar Swamp Road – Hultgren circulated building density figures (Buildings/mile) for typical 25 mph and 30 mph Town roads noting that Cedar Swamp Road, Brookside Lane and Highland Road appeared to have higher densities than most 30 mph roads and could be considered for 25 mph speed limits.  No decisions were made and the matter will continue on the July agenda.

 

Speed Concerns Near 791 Mansfield City Road – Waiting for classifier data.

 

Speed Concerns – Puddin Lane – Waiting for classifier data.

 

Request to Close the Garage/Bicentennial Pond Access Road on August 29th – Approved subject to usual notifications.

 

Moulton Road Speeding Concerns – For information pending – emergency services changing its position on traffic calming on Moulton Road, no action (other than enforcement) can be taken.

 

Slow Children Sign Request – Center Street – Referred to DPW for review.
