Minutes of the Meeting

Present:          Hart, Hultgren, Padick, Meitzler, Cox, Jackman

 

The minutes of the March 8th and March 21st meetings were reviewed and no corrections made.

 

Glenn Ridge request for crosswalks & sidewalks – still pending with DOT

 

Codfish Falls/Gurleyville Road intersection – meeting to discuss brush removal with owner yet to take place.

 

Traffic concerns on Depot Road – UConn senior Civil Engineering  presentations will take place on April 24th or 26th; Hultgren will prepare a summary after their presentations.

 

Signal request Rt. 32/North Eagleville Road – still pending with DOT

 

Rt. 44/Daleville Rd. safety review – still pending with DOT

 

Storrs Center Special Design District – Padick explained the question about traffic impacts confined to Phase I only had arisen and the Authority may wish to review the developer’s response.

 

Town Hall area crosswalks – Hultgren explained that new “safety lime green” signs have been ordered for the five crosswalks near the Town Office building and the crosswalk at Celeron on Hunting Lodge Road.  He also said that improved lighting for the four crosswalks on Rt. 275 had been ordered from CL&P.  Additional improvements will be considered when UConn completes their study of on-campus crosswalks.

 

Birch Road Roundabout – The paving will be imprinted and colored this spring and a tapered-edge island will be installed on the Birch Road western approach.  No calls were received in the last month.

 

Traffic at Southeast School – The Authority’s recommendations for traffic in and out of the school’s northern lot were drafted by Meitzler and sent to the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Schools.

 

Fast Traffic on Conantville Road – referred to Engineering for classifying and review for additional traffic calming measures.

 

Pending developments – Padick updated Authority members on pending developments on Hunting Lodge Road and Maple Road.
