Members Absent: A. Barberet, G. Cole, C. Lary, M. Hart (staff)

 

Staff:   Deputy Warden Smayda, Counselor Roache

 

 

I.                     CALL TO ORDER

 

Chairwoman Stauder called the meeting to order at 3:05 p.m.

 

1.                  Minutes of January 18, 2006 – Ray Gergler made a motion, seconded by Walt Solenski, to approve the minutes of January 18, 2006.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

 

II.                   COMMUNICATIONS

 

1.                  Audrey Barberet, Major Ronald Blicher, Richard Pellegrine and Lt. Walter Solenski have been reappointed to the committee by the Mansfield Town council for a term ending Nov. 19, 2007.

 

2.                  The committee reviewed the list of offenses for February 06 and March 06, the Annual Report and the letter Matt Hart sent to the Town Council with the committee’s motion on the installation of razor ribbon.

 

 

III.                  WARDEN’S REPORT AND DISCUSSION

 

1.                  Population Status Report – Ms. Smayda reported that the current population is 957 inmates.

 

2.                  The Warden met with a number of engineers and DOC personnel and Wayne Choinski, the new supervisor, to talk about the installation of the security razor ribbon.  They do not have a specific date to start yet, but it is hoped to be this summer.  They have to work around gates, baseball field and outdoor recreation.

 

3.                  List of Offenses – Ms. Smayda reviewed the list of offenses with the committee.   The list is similar to that of previous months.

 

IV.               CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

 

  1. Ms. Stauder asked if a prison outside work crew could assist the town in clean up after Spring Weekend at Uconn.  This was feasible.  She also asked if we could hold our September Meeting at Bergin.

 

  1. Vera Stearns was present as a representative from Planning and Zoning.
