MANSFIELD HISTORIC
DISTRICT COMMISSION
October
10, 2006
Members attending: I.
Atwood, G. Bruhn, J. Newmyer, D. Spencer
Public Hearing: Susannah Richards presented plans for
the construction of a shed at her property at 974 Storrs Rd., which is part of the
Spring Hill Historic District. Her
application for a certificate of appropriateness delineated a
l0 x 20 x 10 ft. wooden shed, with a brown metal roof like that of the house,
with a 4 ft. wide barn style door. The
windows on the side are old barn sash; after some discussion it was decided
that the front window over the door pictured in the sketch will be
eliminated. The roof will have a l ft. gable overhang.
The application for the certificate of appropriateness was unanimously
approved.
Charles Prewitt appeared before the Commission to
discuss a change in the garage door at 98 Mansfield Hollow Rd., which is in the
Mansfield Hollow Historic District. A
public hearing will be called for 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 15 on this
issue.
The minutes of the September 12 meeting were
approved.
Lon Hultgren appeared
before the Commission to discuss replacing the bridge on Dodd Rd.
The project will not be undertaken until sometime
next year. The bridge will be a pre-cast
concrete arch very similar to the one now in place with cable guardrails. The project will not require Historic
District Commission approval.
Lon also discussed repairing the walking paths in Mansfield Center, some of which have problem
areas. Lon will draw up some proposals
to bring to the Commission at some future point. He will consult Rudy Favretti on possible solutions as well.
The next meeting will be held on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER
15 because of member conflicts with the usual Tuesday, November 14 meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Jody Newmyer
Clerk
