Four-Corners Sewer Study Advisory Committee
Minutes of the Meeting – February 24, 2009
Present: Nesbitt (Chair), Plante, Rawn, Hart, Girard, Ferrigno, Tussing, Pacholski, Hultgren
The meeting was called to order by chair Nesbitt at 7:06 PM.
The minutes of the Jan 27th meeting were approved on a motion by Hart/Girard.
Hart updated committee members on the status of the bill before the Legislature to allow UConn to accept sewage from the four-corners area and his recent testimony before the Environment committee. He said that both Senator Lieberman and Representative Courtney had coming deadlines to submit projects for grants and staff would be submitting the four-corners project to them. Nesbitt asked for further information on Clean Water Grant funding.
The committee reviewed the draft presentation for the upcoming property owners meeting and made many changes in the slides. Questions that are likely to be asked about the presentation were compiled as well. Nesbitt will compile the edited slides into a final draft presentation. Volunteers/assignments for narrating specific slides were made. Nesbitt said he would also draft a “FAQ” type sheet for discussion at the next meeting. A shortened presentation to be given to the Mansfield Downtown Partnership at its March 3rd meeting was discussed. Nesbitt, Hultgren, Hart and Spak will be present at this meeting and can make this presentation.
A list of materials/items needed for the March 24th presentation was reviewed and discussed.
The letter inviting property owners to the March 24th meeting was reviewed and edited. Nesbitt will get a final draft to staff for mailing the week of February 20th.
The Town’s 2020 Strategic Plan and Sustainability vision point were discussed in light of the committee’s work. Nesbitt’s draft was approved as a response by consensus.
The next meeting was set for March 10th to run through the presentation and review the questions handout for the 24th.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.
