Minutes of the Meeting

Present:

Nesbitt (Chair), Plante, Spak, Ferrigno, Rawn, Hart, Girard, O'Neill

(CT Water), Pazanko (CT Water), Hossack (guest), Hultgren (staff)

The meeting was called to order by Chair Nesbitt at 7:02 p.m.

The Minutes of the December 2, 2008 meeting were approved on a motion by

Hart/Plante.

Terry O'Neill from the CT Water Company presented his company's proposal for

supplying water to the University of Connecticut from their existing system in

Willington through the Tolland Water system and then three miles to the UConn

transmission main. Lots of discussion took place with O'Neill responding to

committee members' questions. The earliest this proposal could be completed

would be the fall of 2010. Discussions are continuing with UConn, the DEP and

the Town of Tolland. UConn's ability to accommodate the proposal should be

known in about six months.

Nesbitt circulated two lists of talking points for the previously discussed January

public work session on the sewering proposal. After discussion the next meeting

to firm up the subsequent workshop agenda was set for January 13th at 7:00

p.m. Hultgren, Nesbitt, Girard and Plante will review the list of talking points prior

to the meeting. Girard suggested committee members contact property owners

about the sewering project personally rather than just by mail and public meeting.

This concept was favored by the members present and will be initiated after the

January 13th meeting. Hultgren said he will try to pull together some fiscal

impact study numbers prior to the 13th; Ferrigno offered his assistance as well.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
