1.      Call to Order/Roll Call

The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m.

2.      Meeting Minutes

The minutes of April 8, 2009 were tabled until the next meeting.

3.      Opportunity for the public to address the Committee

No one came forward.

4.      MMS Fuel Conversion Project

Mr. Baruzzi reported that the project was started April 20, 2009.

There have been very few issues with the contractors and at this point it seems they are ahead of schedule.

The contractor is working 2nd shift to work around the school day.

Mansfield Camp will not be held at the Middle School this year; it has been relocated to Bicentennial Pond with the use of Southeast School if it is raining.

The gas line on Davis and Maple roads should be completed in July.

There has been no new news as to the additional funding from the State since the State budget process holds up the special legislation.

5.      Staff Report

Gregory Padick reported via email that he walked the Southeast School acreage with a representative from DEP.  He and Bill Hammon have prepared a draft RFP for the septic feasibility study and just received the review comments from the DEP.  He will prepare the final RFP and have it sent out to 10 firms in the area.  By the next meeting, he should have his recommendation for the Committee to award a contract.

There was discussion of recent site visits to surrounding schools and the likes and dislikes of the designs of the schools that should be considered when drawing up plans.

6.      Next Steps

Need to discuss and determine if the Southeast School site is to be used, what will happen with the existing building.  If it will remain, what will it be used for since the septic approval will be based on all usage of the site.

Award a contract for the septic feasibility study at the next meeting.

Need to plan another informational meeting with Mansfield Board of Education and Town Council.

7.      Other

Next meeting will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.

8.      Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 6:20 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
