MINUTES

1. Call to Order/Roll Call

Mr. Simpson called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m.

2. Meeting Minutes

The minutes of April 12, 2006 were moved, seconded and approved unanimously.

3. Opportunity for the public to address the Committee

No one came forward.

4. Educational Consulting Services

Dr. Jokubaitis distributed his report and summarized the elementary school Principals. He will meet with the Middle School Principal in the next few weeks. Key problems in the elementary schools were storage and space for specialty areas. Another problem that the elementary schools brought up was the ventilation system and lavatories for both students and faculty. More concerns were fire alarm systems and security systems. Principals also expressed a concern not to lose play areas and the concern for bus traffic patterns.

Ms. Miller arrived at 5:15 p.m.

Dr. Jokubaitis went into further detail as to how to improve space problems especially in the Libraries where several groups might be meeting. One idea was to have moveable bookshelves that could expand or shorten areas depending on the need for space.

The next steps were for Dr. Jokubaitis to meet with the Middle School Principal and add that to his report. He will meet with all Principals for modifications to the report, Upon completion of that he will do a presentation to the Board of Education and Town Council combined, possibly at the Library Media Center at the Middle School, and then to a public hearing. E. Paterson recommended in a previous meeting that this been done sooner rather than later.

5. Other

The July 12th meeting has been cancelled. L. Patenaude will send out a short survey as to who can attend a meeting on July 26th.

Mr. Simpson adjourned the meeting at 6:09 p.m.
