MINUTES

1. Call to Order/Roll Call

Mr. Simpson called the meeting to order at 5:09 p.m.

2. Meeting Minutes

The minutes of February 1, 2006 and March 8, 2006 were moved, seconded and approved unanimously.

3. Opportunity for the public to address the Committee

No one came forward.

4. Educational Consulting Services

Dr. Jokubaitis distributed his first report (attached) and summarized his first impressions following visits to the four schools, noting the need for special education instruction; storage; small teaching spaces; security concerns about the location of offices in two of the schools; and current library/media needs.

Ms Rash arrived at 5:24 p.m.

A wide-ranging discussion about next steps followed, including meetings scheduled with building administrators and the instruction staff, as well as potential meetings with parents, the Town Council and the general public.  Mr. Smith agreed to create a draft of a schedule for the Committee's review at the next meeting on May 10^th.  All present agreed that, once the basic outlines of the project were set, the public should be engaged in the process during the coming school year, leading up to the referendum in the fall of 2007.
