BRIEF NOTES: Assisted/Independent Living Advisory Committee
July 19, 2007
PRESENT: K. Grunwald (staff), G. Cole, J.A. Bobbitt,
Jan Scottron (guest), J. Brubacher,
S. Thomas
RFQ:
Qualifications have been received from Masonicare and
Long Hill. K. Grunwald will contact
other developers that did not respond who may appear to be a good match. We will also consider the possibility of
advertising, maybe on the internet. K.
Grunwald will send out a list of all the firms that the RFP was sent to.
The
feeling was that Masonicare is a medical model, more
focused on total care of the individual.
Long Hill presents more of an ala carte model, but did not appear to be
particularly responsive to the RFQ. There
was some interest in Masonicare’s focus on multiple
income levels, with some question about how this is financed.
John
Martin was identified as a point of contact for the UConn
Foundation. K. Grunwald will get in
touch with him. J. Brubacher
and J.A. Bobbitt also have a contact there in Hal Reed.
The
question was raised to the group regarding how critical the location of this
proposed facility is. It was agreed that
while proximity to the downtown is important, it is most critical to bring a
facility to town.
The
next meeting will focus on a critical review of the qualifications received,
followed up by presentations by the two firms.
