Mansfield Advisory Committee on Persons with Disabilities

Regular Meeting - Tuesday February 26, 2008

2:30 PM - Conference Room B - Audrey P. Beck Building

I. Recording Attendance: PRESENT: K. Grunwald (staff), J. Blanshard, Gloria Bent (guest), C. Colon-Semenza, Kathy Ann Easley (staff). Gloria Bent introduced herself as a resident who is interested in joining this committee.

REGRETS: J. Sidney, W. Gibbs

II. Approval of the Minutes: the minutes of the January 29, 2008 meeting should note in Section IV., b. that there is not a need for new signage in the changing room. With that correction the minutes were accepted as written.

III. New Business (other added by majority vote)

a. New Social Worker: K. Grunwald introduced Kathy Ann Easley as the new Social Worker in the Social Services Department.

b. “Other”: A discussion of the role of this committee focused on the possibility of educating members of the community regarding the needs of people with disabilities.

IV. Old Business

a. Membership status – In addition to Gloria Bent, Jen Tanner has expressed an interest in joining this committee. Carolyn Newcomb has not responded to an email invitation. Members present discussed the need to clarify the role of this committee. We will address that at our next meeting.

b. Update – accessibility issues- Community Center: Curt Vincente and Bill Hammon were not available to attend the meeting.

c. Report- Mansfield Strategic Planning Initiative: K. Grunwald distributed copies of the memo that he sent to the Strategic Planning group on behalf of this committee.

V. Adjournment: the meeting adjourned at 3:30 PM.
