Mansfield Advisory Committee on Persons with Disabilities

Regular Meeting   - Tuesday  Mar. 28, 2006

I. Recording Attendance:

Present: K. Grunwald, S. Thompson (staff), W. Gibbs,  T. Miller.

Regrets: J. Sidney, S. Hasson

II.  Minutes for the meeting, Feb. 28, 2006 were approved as written.

III. New Business          

a. Sheila Thompson presented information on the Elderly and Disabled Homeowners and Renters Tax Relief Programs, indicating that the Homeowner’s program ends May 15, and the Renter’s program filing time is May 15 – Sept. 15, 2006.   Eligible income limits for both programs is $27,700 for single individuals, and $33,900 for married couples.  All sources of income are considered for eligibility.

b. K. Grunwald announced the Disabilities Forum taking place on April 5, 2006.  Other discussion focused on information regarding a disability advocacy coalition meeting on Mar. 29, and a statewide preparedness meeting which will take place in Sept. 2006.

IV. Old Business

a. In regard to presentations for future meetings, it was suggested that the committee meet for a progress report with members of the Downtown Partnership.  K. Grunwald stated that he would try to arrange this for April or May. 

b. The Committee suggested that to afford accessibility to members, conference call meetings might be arranged if a member is unable to attend because of a special need. 

c. The meeting was adjourned at 3:45 PM.  Next meeting, April 25, 2006.
