Grade 7 Science Overview

 

 Science: a way of understanding the world involving systematic observation and experimentation.

 

The seventh grade science program is committed to fostering thinking that includes asking questions, collecting data, and relating evidence to theory.

Students will learn:

q       About how the body is organized (cells, tissues, organs, systems)

q       The structures and functions of the digestive, nervous, circulatory, respiratory, muscular, and skeletal systems.

q       How each system contributes to a person’s overall health.

The focus of this unit will be identifying where we are in the universe and exploring the possibilities for us to interact and explore the extreme environments of space. Students will learn the practical problems of how to generate electricity and get fuel from the natural resources found in space.

Students will learn:

q       About evolution of the earth and life.

q       Why earth is habitable

q       What is the difference between living and nonliving

q       How organisms interact with their environments

q       Life in extreme environments

 

 

 

 

Students will have the opportunity to get their American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certifications. Students will learn adult, child, and infant CPR skills.
