6th Grade Language Arts
& Reading

|
In
Language Arts, students have opportunities to experiment with a variety of
writing styles such as expository, persuasive, and creative. Through the
writing process, students draft, revise, edit, share, and publish their own
pieces. Mini-lessons develop writing skills as students develop their own
writer’s voice. Students
keep their completed written work in collection folders. In January and June,
students take their collection folders home for a parent/child “homework”
activity. This is an opportunity to look at the variety of
assignments/activities done through the year and admire the progress and/or
creativity. An
added feature of our Language Arts program is The Friday Forecaster. Look for
it each Friday! This publication, attached to school/recreation handouts that
come out during the week, includes student work as well as information from
the 6th grade. Be sure to ask to see this stapled packet when your
child comes home on Friday!
