Midwestern Region

The study of the Midwestern Region of the United States includes various classroom activities. Students will learn about groups of early settlers and identify problems these people encountered while farming the Great Plains. Students will also analyze the Homestead Act and industries and their effects on migration and the economy. Finally, we will conclude the unit with an Oregon Trail simulation.

Homework for this unit will be to practice and memorize abbreviations, placements of states, state spellings, and capitals for the region.
