Inherit the Wind Vocabulary
1. Extradite = to hand over an alleged criminal to the authorities of another country; "They extradited the fugitive to his native country so he could be tried there. The police wanted to extradite the criminal to another county.”
2. Chautauqua = a meeting, usually held in the summer outdoors or under a temporary tent, providing public lectures combined with entertainment such as concerts and plays.

5. Infidel = One who has no religious beliefs. A person who does not acknowledge your God: especially, one who does not believe in the divine origin and authority of Christianity; one who is not a Christian. One who does not believe in a particular religion.
6. Heretic = a person who holds religious beliefs in conflict with the dogma of the Roman Catholic Church. One who disagrees with Church dogma. One who holds controversial opinions in any area.
7. Suffrage = right to vote.
8. Municipality = an urban district having corporate status and powers of self-government; a town.
9. Repast = That which is taken as food; a meal; figuratively, any refreshment; A supply of food and drink served as a meal.
10. Indict = accuse formally of a crime.
11. Prosecution = the lawyers acting for the state to put the case against the defendant.
12. Loathe = to find repugnant; to dislike greatly; abhor.
13. Dogma = a religious doctrine that is proclaimed as true without proof.
14. Agnostic = One who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god. A person who doubts truth of religion.
15. Linotype = a typesetting machine operated from a keyboard that casts an entire line as a single slug of metal
16. Cynical = believing the worst of human nature and motives; having a sneering disbelief in selflessness of others.
17. Hinterland = a remote and undeveloped area; A region lying beyond major metropolitan or cultural centers; boonies.
18. Messiah = any expected deliverer. Savior. Any expected deliverer or liberator.
19. Lizzie/Flivver = car.
20. Valise = a small overnight bag for short trips.
