MMSA Meeting Minutes

September 6, 2005

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:05.

 

Old Business

 

Distributed minutes from June 7, 2005 meeting, we will review and okay these at the October meeting.

 

Distributed copies of the constitution.  It is time to review and update so we will do so at the October meeting.

 

Board member and committees chair list was distributed.  There are a few open positions.  A job description will be printed up for each position individually and put at the sign up table at the open house on September 15th. 

 

New Business

 

Open House – Scott Brandon and Pam Cheney are set up for the September 15th open house.  MMSA will have tables set up for membership sign up and volunteer opportunities.

 

Box tops for education program is continuing.  Sondra Boyer will put something in the next newsletter.  Next collection date is in October.

 

Grant committee – Teachers must submit their proposals to the committee by the 8th of September. 

 

Compost – Scott Brandon asked that people possibly team up with another person or family and volunteer to help turn the compost.  He will contact Ginny Walton to get this going again.

 

Vice – Principal, Candace Morrell reported that at the opening of school MMS Cares program will be promoted. The emphasis will be on cooperation and kindness. The MMS Cares committee would like to buy bracelets for the students.  The bracelets would be tied to participation in a fund raising event.  Candace asked if MMSA could fund $150.00 of the cost of bracelets.  Motion was made and unanimously approved to give MMS Cares committee $150.00 if the funds are available.  MMSA will check with the treasurer and see if the funds are available.

 

Wayne Trembly announced that Alice in Wonderland will be performed Nov. 17-20.  Parent meeting is September 27th at 7:00.  Mark your calendars! 

 

Gift Wrap – Pam Cheney will be distributing at the end of October.  Orders will arrive before Thanksgiving. 

 

Fund Raising Discussion – Many great ideas i.e. volleyball tournament, tag sale. 

 

Open Gym Night – looking at Friday, February 3rd.  This will be discussed at October meeting.
