MMSA Meeting Minutes

December 5, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 7:00p.m.

The minutes from the November 7, 2006 meeting were approved with a correction to some dates.

Treasurer’s Report:  Total in checking and savings is $5,661.78.  The bill to Genevieve’s for the Gift Wrap fundraiser still needs to be paid, so the total profit from that event is still to be determined.

Old Business:

Book Fair – a letter was read from Linda Robinson commenting on the success of the Book Fair and thanking the MMSA volunteers who helped out.

Wizard of OZ – refreshment sales after four performances totaled $657.96.  The healthy snacks went over very well.

New Business:

Correspondence – thank you letters from grant recipients were shared

January meeting – it was decided to cancel the meeting previously scheduled for Jan. 2, 2007.  The next meeting will be Tuesday, February 6th.

Spring programs were discussed.  Different options will be investigated.  One parent volunteered to see if any time was available at the UConn ice rink.

Administrative Report:

Jeff Cryan reported that 150 parents have signed up for the school notification service.  He asked parents if they would object to moving the week of school visits to October instead of November.  The consensus was that October would be fine.  Wayne Trembly said the theme for this year’s History Day is “Triumph and Tragedy”.  The date is scheduled for Saturday March 24th.  The theme for the Student Council is “Respect Me”.

Other Business:

Mary Sikand shared a fundraising possibility for next year, selling gift card for various stores, restaurants, etc.  It would be a good compliment to the gift wrap sale prior to the holidays.

Virginia Walton left a sign-up sheet for composting volunteers and two parents signed up.

The meeting adjourned at 8:15p.m.
